BADER is a multinational premium leather producer leading in technology adoption and sustainable practices. It is the first choice for automotive brands around the world to style their products, and serves top companies including Lamborghini and Porsche.

The Challenge

Bader needs to provide reliably outstanding quality control in its leather production process. Its clients expect outstanding products and with no defects on the leather, but these defects are often subtle or minuscule in appearance so they are hard to detect. As it is not possible to categorize their products by human inspection, Bader needed Digital Sense to build a system that could scan the leather, detect defects, and determine its quality.

The Solution

With our partners at PENSUR (industrial automation) we created an assisted quality control station for inspecting leather pieces. This station has multiple calibrated cameras that capture high-resolution images of the leather pieces under various illumination conditions, making it possible to determine the best leather from all points of view. We also designed Deep Learning models with exceptional accuracy in detecting potential defects within the leather pieces.
