About ALADI

The Latin American Association for Integration (ALADI) is an intergovernmental organization dedicated to promoting regional integration and economic development in Latin America. With a membership of 13 countries, ALADI facilitates trade and investment, harmonized standards, and fosters cooperation among its members.

The Challenge

ALADI's SMEs face challenges in accurately classifying products for international trade. The current manual process is time-consuming, error-prone, and requires specialized knowledge. This is why ALADI wanted to create a way to help their users users on the classification process in a way that would be easy to learn and use, by being able to read language, scan products and services, and categorize the input. All this while learning from the information given and be able to interact with the user.

The Solution

We created an AI-powered chatbot that uses natural language processing (NLP) to interact with users in their native language and guide them through the product classification process. Our solution makes it possible to:

  • Understand queries and respond in a conversational manner. 
  • Classify products accurately based on ALADI's nomenclature and classification rules.
  • Incorporate error tolerance and context awareness to handle typos, inconsistencies, and incomplete information, ensuring accurate classification even in challenging situations.
  • Add, modify, and remove inputs and rules to improve the assistant's accuracy and adapt to evolving product categories.
